Promoting exercise in children with cancer not only has a positive impact on their quality of life, but is also very important for optimal treatment and limiting possible late effects, says Patrick van der Torre, pediatric physiotherapist and head of paramedical care. For this group of children, it is important to actively challenge their physical development at a level that is appropriate for them. In addition, group exercise can stimulate the child's physical, mental and social development. Patrick announces: ‘From September 15 to 22, attention will be focused on National Sports Week throughout the Netherlands. The NOC*NSF encourages everyone to be more active. This is of course the ideal opportunity to bring the exercise atmosphere to the Máxima Center with Maximaal Bewegen, the Máxima exercise program.
