Prinses Máxima Centrum

Slovak delegation visits the Princess Máxima Center

On Monday, December 2, a delegation led by Slovak President Peter Pellegrini visited the Princess Máxima Center. The delegation also included Slovakia’s Minister of Health and the Slovak Ambassador to the Netherlands. The visit aligns with our internationalization strategy, essential for advancing care for children with cancer in the years to come.

Last year, the Princess Máxima Center signed a collaboration agreement with the National Institute of Children’s Diseases (NUDCH) in Bratislava, Slovakia. The partnership currently focuses on training and exchange of pediatric oncology professionals, molecular genetic diagnostics, and conducting clinical studies. With plans to establish a new pediatric oncology center in Bratislava, the delegation gathered insights into the construction process, organizational and financial aspects, as well as the care and research at the Princess Máxima Center.

Rob Pieters: “In our collaboration, we aim to provide the best and most innovative care for children with cancer. This partnership is crucial for improving care and research in Slovakia. By sharing our knowledge and expertise with pediatric oncology professionals in Slovakia, we accelerate the development of new treatments for children with cancer through joint efforts.”

Since its founding, the Princess Máxima Center has made significant strides in pediatric oncology care and research in the Netherlands and beyond. Further internationalization is vital for continued progress. The Princess Máxima Center pursues this through strategic partnerships with institutions in Central and Eastern Europe, such as the National Institute of Children’s Diseases (NUDCH) in Bratislava, Slovakia.
