Katja Heitink-Pollé

As a pediatric oncologist in the hemato-oncology department, I treat children with leukemia and other bone marrow diseases, such as bone marrow failure. I also focus on supportive care for children with cancer, including blood transfusions and treatment for thrombosis. Caring for and treating children who are seriously ill is another important part of my work.

Finally, as unit head, I work on improving the quality of care on the clinical ward.

• 2020–present: Pediatric hemato-oncologist at the Princess Máxima Center

• 2018–2020: Pediatric hematologist at the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital, Utrecht

• 2011–2018: Pediatrician and hematologist-oncologist at the Flevo Hospital, Almere, responsible for shared care pediatric oncology and the care of children with blood disorders. Also responsible for training junior doctors.
