About me
As a pediatric neurologist, I am involved in the care of children with a brain tumor or a tumor in or around the spinal cord. Within the team that cares for these children, my role is to assess which problems a child is experiencing because of the tumor, or sometimes because of the treatment. This may include epilepsy, speech difficulties, weakness, behavior changes or headaches.
Children with cancer elsewhere in the body can also develop neurological problems, for example when a nerve is affected by the tumor, due to an infection of the brain or as a side effect of treatment. In those situations, the pediatric neurologist helps determine what is going on and how we can best manage the symptoms.
