Pulmonary function test
The purpose of a pulmonary function test is to determine how well the lungs function, how big they are and how much air your child can exhale.
Helping and preparing your child
During treatment, your child will have many tests and procedures. A child life specialist helps your child, and you, prepare for these.
Your child sits on a chair in front of the pulmonary function measuring device with a clip on their nose and a mouthpiece in their mouth. The mouthpiece is connected to the device. The technician always explains to your child what to do.
The test takes about 30 minutes.
