Exercise test
An exercise test measures your child’s physical fitness and how their lungs, heart, and muscles work during physical activity. The test takes about 45–60 minutes.
Helping and preparing your child
During treatment, your child will have many tests and procedures. A child life specialist helps your child, and you, prepare for these.
Your child will wear a mask over their nose and mouth, which allows them to breathe normally. Then, your child starts cycling or walking. The exercise gradually becomes a little more challenging until your child indicates they can’t continue. During the test, we measure heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels in the blood.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
