Brain scan (EEG)
The purpose of an EEG (electroencephalogram) is to measure, by means of electrodes, the activity of the brain.
Helping and preparing your child
During treatment, your child will have many tests and procedures. A child life specialist helps your child, and you, prepare for these.
Your child lies on an examination table. The EEG technician marks crosses on your child's scalp and attaches electrodes to the marked spots. A net keeps the electrodes in place. Wires run from the electrodes to a monitor that records the activity of the brain. Your child performs a few assignments during the examination.
The examination takes approximately one hour.
