Treatment plan

Cancer can be treated in many different ways. If you want to understand everything that may happen, it can sometimes feel overwhelming.

There is no standard solution when treating cancer. Treatments are constantly changing and improving. The physicians in your treatment team work together to decide which treatment is best for you. You may receive one specific treatment or a combination of different treatments.

Whatever your treatment is, it is very important that you understand what will happen and why. Based on your diagnosis, we create the best possible treatment plan for you.

What is a treatment plan

Together with you, a treatment plan is created. It describes your wishes and the goals of the treatment. It also explains how your treatment team will work with you to achieve these goals.

For the treatment to be successful, it is important that you agree with the treatment plan. The plan also includes practical agreements, such as who to contact if you need to cancel an appointment and agreements about the expected length of the treatment.

Can you explain it to others?

Other people may want to know what is going on or what still lies ahead. It can help to think in advance about what you want to tell them. You might even write it down.

Tip: If you find it difficult to explain it every time, you can write it on a card or in your phone and share or send it to others.

Questions?

After reviewing your treatment plan, you may have questions. Always feel free to ask them. We think it is important that you and your parents understand everything clearly.
