Collaboration with shared care centers
The Princess Máxima Center works closely with pediatric departments of several hospitals across the country. This means that part of your treatment can take place at a hospital closer to your home. We call this shared care, which means care provided together.
So you do not have to come to the Máxima Center for everything. Some tests and treatments can take place at a shared care center. For example:
Certain chemotherapy treatments
Blood transfusions, antibiotics, and pain management
Help with nausea
Starting tube feeding
Blood tests before a new chemotherapy treatment
This way, you receive high-quality care from specialists near your home, in close coordination with your own treatment team at the Máxima Center.
