Appointment in the Máxima Center

Maybe you haven't been to hospitals often or have never stayed overnight. Once your treatment begins, you'll visit the hospital regularly. Sometimes you'll stay for just a few hours or one day. Other times, you might stay a bit longer.

The Máxima Center

At the Princess Máxima Center, we help you live your life as normally as possible and continue to develop, despite your illness. That’s why the Máxima is designed in such a way that it doesn’t actually look like a hospital. It’s light and spacious, and you can almost see outside from everywhere. There’s a lot to see and do, both inside and outside. This way, you can relax or find distraction. Watch the video below about the Princess Máxima Center:

Questions

During an appointment, many questions are asked: what is your address, your phone number, are you allergic to anything, how do you feel today, do you take any medication, and so on. With your answers, we can better understand how to care for you and what you prefer.

Always be honest about how you're feeling. This way, you will receive the best care. Everything you share remains confidential. Only if you or someone else is in danger, we may need to share it, but we will always inform you before doing so.

Sometimes you may be asked questions you prefer not to answer with your parents present, for example, about your body, smoking, alcohol, or sex. You are always welcome to ask for a private conversation with the doctor or nurse.

Shared care centers

You don't have to come to the Máxima for every treatment. Some treatments, such as certain forms of chemotherapy, can also be done at one of the hospitals we collaborate with: the shared care centers. You can also go there for some check-ups. The choice of which shared care center to go to will be discussed with your doctor.

Important

Always bring your medications and tube feeding, if applicable, with you to the hospital or shared care center. This way, you can continue to use them at the right time.
