Admission to the Máxima Center

If you need to stay at the Máxima Center for more than one day, you will have your own room, a parent-child room. Next to your room there is an extra space where your parent, brother, sister, or a friend can stay overnight.

The infusion pumps are placed in the hallway, so you will not be disturbed by beeping sounds in your room.

Every room also has a balcony. You can step outside there for some fresh air.

You do not have to stay in bed all day, and it is better if you do not. Take a walk, visit the playroom, or go outside. There are many things to do in and around the Máxima Center. Always ask the nurse first if you are allowed to leave your room.

Questions

During an admission, you will be asked many questions: what is your address, your phone number, do you have any allergies, how are you feeling today, do you take medication, and so on.

Your answers help us understand how we can care for you and what makes you feel comfortable.

Always be honest about how you are doing. This helps us give you the best care. Everything you tell us is confidential. Only if you or someone else is in danger might we sometimes need to share information, but we will never do that without telling you.

Sometimes you may be asked questions that you would rather not answer in front of your parents, for example about your body, smoking, alcohol, or sex. You can always ask to speak with the physician or nurse alone for a moment.
