Measures regarding patient records
8 april 2026
The hospital software supplier ChipSoft has been affected by a cyberattack. The Princess Máxima Center works, via UMC Utrecht, with the system of this software supplier for maintaining and using medical records.
As a precaution, part of the system has been temporarily shut down. This measure has been taken as an extra safeguard for the security of medical data. As far as we are aware, the Máxima Center’s data is not involved in the hack at this time.
What are the consequences at this moment?
The patient record itself remains available to our healthcare professionals.
It is temporarily not possible to digitally exchange medical documents with other hospitals.
At this moment, we are also unable to view documents from other hospitals.
This may mean that our healthcare professionals sometimes need extra time to request medical information. When necessary, this is done by phone or via secure email, and always with prior consent.
Care continues
Care for children continues as usual. We are doing everything we can to minimize any inconvenience and are closely monitoring the situation.
