What can you expect?

'Samen verder' follows three people as they discover how their recovery from childhood cancer has affected their adult lives.

Although they have been declared cured, they carry the lasting consequences of their illness and treatment with them: physical, mental, visible and invisible. Their past continues to affect their relationships, work, desire to have children, self-image and daily functioning. Through three intimate portraits, the series reveals what begins after recovery. Thanks to medical advances, more and more children are surviving cancer. At the same time, the group of adults living with long-term effects is growing. These effects are often overlooked and difficult to discuss. 'Samen verder: leven na kinderkanker' opens up the conversation about mental wellbeing, care after recovery, finding meaning, work, parenthood and the vulnerability of the body in a performance-driven society. A series about the art of living: about how to find your own form of progress and meaning amidst lasting consequences.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Annick Sickinghe, who created this film series on behalf of the Princess Máxima Centre.
