Art in public space

The aim of art in the Princess Máxima Center is to contribute to quality of life, providing pleasure and to make people look differently for the children, families, visitors and employees.

Building up an art collection is a unique and continuous process. The current collection has been donated or loaned by artists and art collectors.

Upon entering, three works of art immediately catch the eye.

From left to right:

Dominic Harris, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Location: corridor to/from parking garage

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are each jumping on a digital panel full of enthusiasm. The artist has digitally brought Snow White and each dwarf with its own character to life. They respond to you if you give them attention. The artwork is on loan from Aviva.

Jacqueline de Vries, Máxima

Location: entrance hall

The painting of our Queen is painted in two main colours. The green stands for her Argentinian roots and the orange for the Netherlands, her new homeland. The two colors of her eyes reflect the beautiful way in which she combines them and thereby delights and enriches our country. Her radiant smile should of course not be missing.

Linda Nieuwstad, Daffodils

Location: corridor to/from parking garage

Linda Nieuwstad's large artificial flowers are cheerful in colour. It's like stepping into a painting and walking through the flowers. This is exactly why the artist made this. It is a gift from the UMC Utrecht/WKZ.
